چکیده

The fibre-reinforced soil-cement columns are used as remediation measure against earthquake induced soil-liquefaction associated large settlements in liquefiable loose surface layer of sand. This sand was overlying on the non-liquefiable dense bottom 1-g physical modelling shallow foundation carried out using shaking table. There were four models constructed for testing and two types improvements such adjacent beneath structure. First model without improvement, three with provision polypropylene-reinforced columns. In first treated installed wooden fixity plate to structure, second improved improvement upon soil-cemented provided third results obtained case untreated concludes that penetration structure inside soil settlement both up unacceptable limits. unacceptable. achieved up-to acceptable most successful type liquefaction-induced which values negligible. It is concluded relatively efficient

Increase of Resistance Parameters of Clay Soils in East Isfahan by Geopolymer Process and Reinforced with Polypropylene Fibers and Comparison with Soil Stabilization with Cement

Since clay is widely used in most construction projects, the issue of improving clay soils has considerable importance. This study aimed to optimize the variables affecting the properties of geopolymer and improve their mechanical properties using Isfahan blast furnace slag. Taguchi's statistical design method was used to model three process variables (blast furnace slag, water, and alkali sodi...

Effect of Adding Nanoclay on the Mechanical Behaviour of Fine-grained Soil Reinforced with Polypropylene Fibers

In this study the performance of clay nano-particles on the soil reinforced with Polypropylene fibers (PP-fiber) has been investigated. Also a series of investigations concerning the effect of random orientation of fibers on the engineering behaviour of soil were conducted. Soil mixtures were modified with varying percentages of nanoclay and Fibers. Unconfined compressive strength (UCS), Compac...

Uplifting Behavior of Shallow Buried Pipe in Liquefiable Soil by Dynamic Centrifuge Test

Underground pipelines are widely applied in the so-called lifeline engineerings. It shows according to seismic surveys that the damage from soil liquefaction to underground pipelines was the most serious, whose failures were mainly in the form of pipeline uplifting. In the present study, dynamic centrifuge model tests were conducted to study the uplifting behaviors of shallow-buried pipeline su...

Transport of sulfadiazine in soil columns: experiments and modelling approaches.

Antibiotics, such as sulfadiazine, reach agricultural soils directly through manure of grazing livestock or indirectly through the spreading of manure or sewage sludge on the field. Knowledge about the fate of antibiotics in soils is crucial for assessing the environmental risk of these compounds, including possible transport to the groundwater. Transport of (14)C-labelled sulfadiazine was inve...

Numerical and physical modeling of soft soil slope stabilized with stone columns

There can be many reasons for engineers to place the footings near a slope such as leakage of suitable sites or architectural considerations. One of the approaches to increase the amount of bearing capacity, especially in soft soils, is adding stone columns to the soil. In this research, the behavior of a strip footing placed near a stone column reinforced clayey slope was investigated. For thi...
